Yendon is a rural locality on the railway from Geelong to Ballarat & is 15km south-east of Ballarat. The town was originally called Buninyong East, but was changed in 1879 to Yendon, believed to be an Indigenous Australian word meaning "waterhole". Mt Buninyong & Mt Warrenheip are both significant features of the Yendon landscape. Not a lot of the "old town" remains, yet it is a scenic place for families to live with Buninyong being approx 8kms away with daily services, facilities & educational options close by.
