Smeaton is a rural township 12 km north-east of Creswick & approx 133 km north-west of Melbourne via the western freeway. Smeaton is a small village with attractions such as the Anderson’s Mill (which opens a few times a year). Anderson's Mill is a 19th century industrial complex which includes a beautifully preserved four-storey bluestone flour mill which is possibly the largest flour mill ever built in Victoria. The Tuki Trout Farm & rural retreat is also a fabulous family attraction, which lies approx 10 km north of the village. The Tuki Trout Farm guarantees that everyone catches a trout which can be taken home or cooked on the spot and eaten in the restaurant. Smeaton offers a lovely country hotel, The Cumberland where residents gather to share stories and a drink or two.
