Cardigan is a suburb on the north-western rural fringe of Ballarat which a population of approximately 754. A controversial 200 hectare development site to include 3200 houses, recreational facilities, hotel and shops in Cardigan was identified in 2010. Cardigan is minutes from Lucas shopping centre on the opposite side of Sturt Street and is a fast growing suburb.
