Redan is a residential suburb immediately south of central Ballarat. One of Redan's earliest public facilities was the Miners' Racecourse (1862), now the site of Bray Raceway in Morshead Park. The Morshead Park Stadium also known as the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility was opened in 2014 and has a main grandstand with 500 seats with additional room for 8,000 spectators, bringing its total capacity to 8,500. Redan also incorporates Trekardo Park, a small commercial strip which includes a post office, plus a larger complex on the corner of Pleasant street South and La Trobe street which incorporates further shops including Maxi Foods supermarket. Redan is almost entirely laid out in grid plan with easy access to the city, along with a head start through to Geelong. As of September 2009, Redan has the most affordable houses in Australia.
Redan has a football team playing in the Ballarat Football League.
