Local Information

Canadian is a rural and residential suburb 3 km south-east of central Ballarat. Its residential part is along the Ballarat-Buninyong Road, with Sovereign Hill Historical park bordering its edges. Canadian has a botanical park, the Sparrow Ground reserve, and a caravan park, along with a primary school (Canadian Lead Primary School), shops, and open reserves including Pax Hill Scout Camp. Lake Esmond is also located here, which is a recreational area often used by various Clubs and is also a favourite barbeque destination in the summer months. Canadian is popular due to its proximity to the city and for its close-by connection with Ballarat’s biggest tourist attraction, Sovereign Hill.
