Nerrina is an outer-urban area, 6 km north-east of Ballarat. The name is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal expression, and is an alternate for the original name of the Little Bendigo gold diggings. Surrounded by bushland and beautiful scenery, Nerrina is a semi-rural suburb with a very small township and a commercial area. It is located on the foothills of the Brown Hill range and straddles both sides of the Western Freeway. Nerrina consists of a local pub, Little Bendigo Primary School and is surrounded by many walking tracks along the Yarrowee River Trail.
