Lexton is a small rural township on the Sunraysia Highway, 45km north-east of Ballarat, 24km to Avoca & 38km to Maryborough. Lexton was discovered by Major Thomas Mitchell in 1836 and was known as the crossroads of central Victoria, on the main route to Sydney. Lexton is now home to the magnificent Mt Mitchell Homestead.
